چکیده

selective iga deficiency (igad) (serum iga concentration of pcr was used to type hla b, dr, and dq alleles in 29 iranian individuals with igad and 299 swedish individuals with igad. the results indicate a strong association with the hla b14, dr1 alleles in iranian subjects and hla b8, b12, b13, b14, b40, dr1, dr3, dr7, dq2 and dq5 alleles in swedish subjects. differences in hla association of igad in iran and sweden confirm the notion of a genetic background of the disease and that multiple, potentially different genes within the mhc region might be involved in the pathogenesis of igad in different ethnic groups.

Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) associated with selective IgA deficiency in Iran and Sweden.

Selective IgA deficiency (IgAD) (serum IgA concentration of <0.07 g/l) is the most common primary immunodeficiency in Caucasians, with an estimated prevalence of 1/600. There are strong indications for involvement of genetic factors in development of the disease and the frequency of several extended major histocompatibility complex haplotypes (including HLA-A1, B8, DR3, DQ2) have previously bee...

Antibodies to nucleic acid antigens in selective IgA deficiency.

Antibodies to nucleic acid antigens were measured in symptomatic and asymptomatic IgA-deficient individuals, non-IgA-deficient blood donors, and patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). There was no increase in mean levels of antibodies to nucleic acid antigens (native or denatured DNA, transfer RNA) in the IgA-deficient group, although 4 of 100 IgA-deficient blood donors had persisten...

Selective IgA deficiency associated with glomerulonephritis and oligoarthritis.

A 59 year old woman with selective IgA deficiency associated with oligoarthritis and glomerulonephritis is described. She was seropositive for rheumatoid factor and renal histological examination showed a focal glomerulonephritis. High titre rheumatoid factor and a focal glomerulonephritis were also present in the only other well documented report of selective IgA deficiency and renal disease. ...

Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) associated drug hypersensitivity: consequences of drug binding to HLA.

Recent publications have shown that certain human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles are strongly associated with hypersensitivity to particular drugs. As HLA molecules are a critical element in T-cell stimulation, it is no surprise that particular HLA alleles have a direct functional role in the pathogenesis of drug hypersensitivity. In this context, a direct interaction of the relevant drug with...

Autoimmunity in patients with selective IgA deficiency.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Selective immunoglobulin A deficiency (SIgAD) is the most common primary antibody deticiency. Patients with SIgAD have a greater risk of concomitant autoimmune disorders than healthy individuals. The exact mechanism underlying the relationship between autoimmunity and SIgAD is not fully understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate potential associations between aut...
